Barton Cup


The Barton Cup is a Leinster Men’s Foursomes competition that dates back to 1905.  The competition is played on a matchplay basis throughout, with New Ross facing regional teams in the opening rounds.  The Final is played over two legs, home and away, with all other matches being split 3 home and 2 away depending on the draw.

The basics:

  • Team consists of 10 players
  • Played off scratch
  • Played by Foursomes Match Play
  • Handicap
    • Combined handicap of each pair must NOT be LOWER than 14
    • Lowest playing handicap held in preceding year is the one which applies
  • Each player must have had a minimum of 4 returns in qualifying competitions recorded last year

2016 Barton Cup Draw


Preliminary Round – New Ross 3.5 v 1.5 Waterford.  New Ross face Wexford in the First Round on or before April 17th with 3 matches at home and two away.

First Round – New Ross 3.5 v 1.5 Wexford.  New Ross meet Rosslare in the second round on Sunday May 8th at 4pm with 3 matches at home and two away
