The Junior Cup team were the only team in action for New Ross this week. They took part in the regional qualifier at Wexford Golf Club, where in very tough conditions they missed out on a top four spot by just two shots. The team was made up of Donal Hosey, Paul McGrath, Mark O’Mahony, Aidan O’Neill & Ger Ronan. This week there are four teams in action. First up are the Barton Shield who take part in their regional qualifier at Baltinglass on Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon the Cullen Trophy team meet Cahir Park in New Ross, and the South Leinster team take on Knockanally. On Sunday, the All Ireland Fourball Trophy team square up against their near neighbours Waterford. Best wishes to all involved.
Michael Ryan Jnr second at the Kilkenny Scratch Cup
Michael Ryan Jnr turned in a great performance in the Kilkenny Scratch Cup last Satuday. He open with a brilliant three under 68 to take the half way lead. He followed that up with a 73 in the afternoon to fall just one short of victory in a very strong field. Robbie Farrell was also well in contention after the first round, having carded a one under 70, but couldn’t sustain his challenge in the afternoon.
Co Wexford Past Captains
The Co Wexford Past Captains visit New Ross on Friday May 20th, with a timesheet running from 12.00 to 16.30. Tee times can be booked through the club or you can contact John Murphy for more information.
The Gardening Group has been up and running for the last number of weeks and will continue to do work right through the summer months. The group are carrying out various projects like weeding & trimming of shrubs and flower beds, and general tidying up of the car park area. It is hoped that some members can take on particular projects that they can carry out when it suits them. All help and support is welcome and if you would like to get involved please contact JJ Hoyne on 087 2671982.
Restaurant is taking bookings for all types of occasions
Don’t forget that the restaurant takes bookings for all occasions – birthdays, christenings, communions, anniversaries and funerals – and the bar and catering team are happy to meet a wide range of requirements. If you have any queries on bookings, please contact the club on 051 421433. The very popular Sunday Lunch special (4 courses for €15) continues and booking is advised.
