Teams

There were mixed fortunes for the teams during the week. The JB Carr bowed out away from home in Courtown, whilst the Provincial Towns team ran up against a very strong Waterford outfit. Better news of the All Ireland Fourball Team who had the unusual distinction of winning all three matches away from home to win the tie. Pat Whelan & Jamsie Wallace, Leo Booth & Des Redmond and Steve Travis & Martin Forristal all retuned wins in St Helen’s. Richie Aylward & Tony Wallace and Patsy Farrell & Robert O’Dwyer had the comfort of being called in at home. The team is managed by Junior Cashin and will meet the winners of the tie between Mountain View & Waterford in the third round.

The South Leinster Team pulled off a great win over Bunclody in a tie where home advantage counted for little. James O’Brien won his match in New Ross, with Mick Malone and Edward Killeen losing very narrowly to some impressive opponents at home. New Ross needed to take three wins from four in Bunclody and duly delivered. Eamon Delaney lost a great battle on the 18th but Robert O’Dwyer, Tom Reid & Richard O’Grady delivered the goods to send New Ross through. The team is managed by John Hartley & Paschal Bolger. Not so good news from the Duggan Cup where New Ross ended up the wrong side of a 3-2 score line against Mount Juliet. Pat Whelan & Sean Murphy managed a great away win, with Eamon Dungan & Richie Aylward winning at home. Ned Lyng & Pat Bennett, John Whelan & Declan Doyle and Harry Reinhardt all came out the wrong side of tight affairs. The team was managed by John Howlin. Next weekend the Irish Mixed team are in second round action at 1.30pm against Wexford.

Gardening Group

The Gardening Group has been up and running for the last number of weeks and will continue to do work right through the summer months. The group are carrying out various projects like weeding & trimming of shrubs and flower beds, and general tidying up of the car park area. It is hoped that some members can take on particular projects that they can carry out when it suits them. All help and support is welcome and if you would like to get involved please contact JJ Hoyne

Art Exhibition

The very talented Carmel Fenlon is exhibiting her latest work in the Golf Club from Thursday April 28th to Sunday May 1st. A private viewing takes place from 6.30pm to 8pm on Thursday which is open to all members and their guests.
