Men’s AGM – change of time
The Men’s AGM takes place November 14th. The start time has been moved forward to 6.15pm to accommodate the Ireland vs Scotland soccer match that takes place at 7.45pm that evening (the match will be on in the bar after the AGM). Please do your best to attend – it’s an important evening for the Men’s Section, and it gives members the opportunity to have their say in the operation of our club. Please see the Men’s Notice Board for further information or contact a member of the committee.
Year End Presentations Night – November 7th at 8pm
The year end Presentations Night will take place on Friday November 7th at 8pm. All members are invited to attend what should be a very enjoyable wrap to Paschal Bolger’s great year as Captain. The presentations will include the Matchplay winners, the Golfer of the Year, the Culcita Trophy, Medal winners, Hole in Ones and all outstanding recent competitions. The winners of all the Cup tournaments over the year are also asked to polish up their silverware and bring them along on the evening.
Matchplay & Golfer of the Year winners
Congratulations to John Dowling who has won the Golfer of the Year title 2014 aided by great performances in the President’s Prize and Centenary Cup. John saw off his nearest challengers Mark O’Mahony & Declan Harford by 3 & 4 points respectively. Congratulations to Hugh Behan who defeated James O’Keefe 3&2 to win the Singles Matchplay. Ned Fenlon & Seamus Aldridge beat Donal Hosey & Jim Byrne 3&2 in the Foursomes Final. Brian StLedger & Liam Connolly saw off Brian Teague & Declan Doyle in the Fourball Final by the same margin. Well done to all the finalists, the presentation for the matchplay events takes place on Friday November 7th.
Adopt a Green
Volunteers are coming forward at a steady pace to “Adopt a Green”. Thank you to those who have already put their names forward. The scheme gives members the opportunity to take ownership of an aspect of course maintenance. Volunteering involves repairing pitchmarks on a particular green and raking the greenside bunkers every time you play. To volunteer, put your name on the “adopt a green” sheet in the bar (near the computer). There will be a prize every month for the most improved green/bunkers.
The Sunday Lunch Specials continue in Tees Restaurant throughout the winter, with a chef in the kitchen every Sunday. Check out the menus on the Tees Restaurant Facebook Page:
Paying Next Year’s Subscription
Now is a good time to consider making some down payments on your subscription for next year to avoid having to pay the whole amount in March. You can make payments towards next year’s subscription at any time in the bar using you GUI Card. You can choose how much you’d like to pay and make as many payments as you want – just ask any of the bar staff for details.
Find the Joker
This week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw was Wexford’s John Hartley. John opened envelope no. 20 to reveal the ace of diamonds. John takes home €30 and the jackpot is now a bumper €4,085. The next draw takes place on Friday November 7th (the Year End Presentations Night). Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar. Thank you to all who support this fundraiser.
