This Week’s Competitions
The Annual Club Classic which will be held on September 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th. Members are being kindly ask to give as much support as possible to this event – it’s a key fundraiser as we head into the winter months. The full list of prizes is now available on the website – first prize is a round of golf for 4 at Druid’s Glen with evening meal and overnight B&B accommodation. Please help the club by getting the message out there to friends, family and colleagues in other clubs. All the timesheets are now available for booking.
Members are reminded that they are welcome to play in the Tuesday Fourball on Tuesday mornings before the competition bookings open (at 2pm). If you want to play in the competition, make sure you sign in before you start. If there is nobody in the Pro Shop, leave a note saying that you are entering the competition and pay your entry fee when you finish your round.
Course Closure – Coring of Greens
The annual coring of the greens will take place from Monday 8th September to Friday 12th September, with the course reopening on Saturday 13th September (or earlier depending on progress of the work). Coring of the greens is essential work in helping to maintain a healthy root zone for the greens – so please bear with us – it won’t be long before the greens are back to their best.
Tee’s Restaurant – 1st Birthday
To celebrate their first birthday, Tees Restaurant are launching a Monthly Friday Dinner night with music and craic. The first Friday Dinner Night will take place on Friday 12th September, and reservations, which are being taken from 7pm are already filling up fast – please book soon to avoid disappointment. Paying Next Year’s Subscription
Now is a good time to consider making some down payments on your subscription for next year to avoid having to pay the whole amount in March. You can make payments towards next year’s subscription at any time in the bar using you GUI Card. You can choose how much you’d like to pay and make as many payments as you want – just ask any of the bar staff for details.
Golfing Union of Ireland Strategic Review – Survey
The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) is developing a strategic plan, which will include consideration of its governance structures, the mapping of the future direction of the organisation and the means to get there. Recognising that the strategy will be shaped by the views of those closely involved with the game, the GUI is seeking your input.

Those who complete the survey will have the option of entering a free draw for one of three golfing packages for two at Carton House, to include golf tuition, overnight stay, breakfast and a game of golf on one of Carton House’s two championship courses.
