The hot and sunny weather of July has given way to more traditional Irish summer conditions in August, with a fair amount of rain falling over the past few weeks. This is having a major impact on our greens, with pitchmarks being far bigger and more noticeable now. Please do your best to repair not just your own but other unrepaired pitchmarks. The bunkers also suffer with heavy showers. Please make an extra effort to rake the bunkers into a smooth and even condition after playing from them. It’s our course – let’s look after it.
By coincidence, National Repair your Pitchmark Day took place during the week, an awareness day promoted by BIGGA, the British & International Golf Greenkeepers Association, aimed at promoting the preferred technique in repairing pitchmarks. Check out their information poster:
The Sunday Lunch special continues throughout the summer months with 3 courses on offer for just 17.50 and two courses for just 14.50. As always, guests and children are welcome. You can view the full Sunday Lunch Menu on the website:

Wexford Friends of Crumlin Children’s Hospital Golf Classic – Fri Aug 29th
The Wexford friends of Crumlin Children’s Hospital are running a golf classic at New Ross on August 29th as part of their fund raising activities. Last year they raised €40,000 for the hospital, and this money was used to purchase monitoring equipment for the central nursing station in the new St Teresa’s Cardiac ward. This equipment assisted in the care of many of Ireland’s babies with heart problems
Entry for a team of 4 costs €100. They are also seeking sponsorship and any donations are welcome. To enter a team please contact Tom O’Brien on 087 2730705 or register at the Pro Shop.
A Quick Guide to the Rules of Golf
The R&A published a “Quick Guide to the Rules” a couple of years back. It’s worth a read, and gives a good summary of the rules that are most commonly encountered during a round of golf. You can find a link to the guide in the Men’s Section page of the website:
