The draw for the Centenary Cup, sponsored by Corcorans Bar & Next Door Off Licence (Sun 22nd June) will take place after the presentation.  Apologies for the confusion surrounding the presentation for the May Open Monthly Singles, and especially to the winners who turned up to collect their prizes.  The Monthly Open Singles prizes will be properly included with the other Men’s competition presentations in future.

New Ross suffered another agonising defeat least week, as the JB Carr team lost out in dramatic circumstances.  Trailing 4-1 from the first leg at Tramore last week, New Ross needed to produce something special to get back into the tie.  And that’s just what they did.  John Dowling & Patsy Farrell, Jim Meggs & Hughie O’Connor, Dan Quigley & Denis Kirwan and Mick Malone & Richie Aylward all recorded victories to level the tie after the two legs.  Team manager, Peter Goggin, chose John Dowling & Patsy Farrell for the resultant sudden death play off.  After halving the 19th, the Tramore pair produced the goods on the 20th to send New Ross out of the competition.  Congratulations to the New Ross team on their achievements this year – they bow out as county champions – and  best wishes to Tramore in the next round.

The Junior Cup team, managed by Derek Ronan & Eamon Walsh, found themselves someway off the pace in their regional qualifying event at Wicklow.  The team was made up of Eamon Dungan, Alan Furness, Donal Hosey, Andrew Ryan & Jack Ryan.  Best wishes to the Jimmy Bruen Shield team who compete in their regional qualifier in Enniscorthy on Saturday.

Course Upkeep

By now you will hopefully have noticed the sand bags at the first tee.  Please take one with you at the start of your round and don’t forget to put it back after you’ve finished your round.  Please repair your own divots as normal and use the sand to repair any other divots that you find.  Please continue to repair pitch marks, your own and others, rake bunkers and remove litter from the course.
