Hurlers Society at New Ross
Eddie Keher, President of the Hurler’s Golf Society brought 65 ex inter county hurlers from all over the country to contest in his President’s Prize at New Ross last week. Micheal O’Muircheartaigh was Eddie’s guest on the day, a familiar face in New Ross as a long time supporter of the annual Rower Inistioge GAA Classic.
Munster-men dominated the prizes – hopefully not an omen of things to come in the Championship this summer – with the Christy Ring Perpetual Trophy going to Walter Shanahan of the South Liberties Club in Limerick who had a great score of 42 pts. This year’s Hurlers Society Captain is another Kilkenny great, Noel Skehan.
A large majority of the society members had never played New Ross before and the reports are that they we all thrilled with the excellent condition of the course and the challenge it presented. This was in no doubt helped by the glorious weather on the day. Congratulations to Eddie Keher on a very successful day!
