Presentation & Draw

The presentation for the Tuesday Fourball sponsored by Mr Eddie Kent and The Spring Cup sponsored by Ryan, Hickey and Associates has been postponed until Tuesday 6th May at 8.30pm as a mark of respect following the death of Mr Garrett Hickey.  The draw for the Sunday timesheet for the 3Ts Qualifier on May 11th will take place after the presentation

Junior & Intermediate Scratch Cups

The timesheet for the Junior (4-9 h’cap) & Intermediate (10-18 h’cap) Scratch Cups which take place on Saturday May 17th are now live.  The events have both been generously sponsored by Mr Eamon Walsh.

Pro Am

Tournament Director, Yvonne Cassidy from the Irish PGA will be in New Ross this week to check on the final preparations for the inaugural New Ross Golf Club Pro Am, which takes place on Friday May 16th. The organizing committee are very happy with progress thus far.  Last call if you would like to take part – there are still a small number of team and individual places available.  A team of three, including meal with your professional partner afterwards, costs €300.  Individual entries cost €100.  If you would like to enter, please contact James Roche or Paul Morris in the pro shop on 051 421433.

Entries are now being taken for the Men’s Fourball Matchplay.  Entry cost €15 per pair.  To enter, please put your names, contact numbers and entry fee in an envelope and place it in the Men’s Competition Box.  The closing date for entries is Tuesday May 6th.

The first round of the Men’s Foursomes matchplay is due for completion by Monday April 28th.

If for any reason you have to cancel a booking on the timesheet please be aware of the consequences for your playing partners.  Out of courtesy please arrange a substitute to play in your place.  Always contact your playing partners or the golf club if you have to cancel at late notice (after 6pm on the day before your tee time).

Hard luck to the Provincial Towns Cup Team who came up against a very strong Enniscorthy team last Saturday.  Michael Heaphy & Colin Codd recorded great wins, but their was little else to shout about from New Ross’s perspective.  Thank you to team managers Bob Doyle & Harry Reinhardt and all of the team for their efforts.  We wish Ennicorthy the very best of luck in the next round.

The Leinster Fourball Trophy team were also up against Enniscorthy today and had a great win.  New Ross won two matches at home and one away where Mick Ryan and Hughie O’Conner won on the 19th after Mick holed a putt on the 18th to keep the match alive. Congratulation to all the team and team manager Jamesie Wallace.  That is one each against one of our great rivals who we also play in the Brennan Cup on the 11th of May

Course Upkeep

The New Ross Golf Club Pro Am is just over two weeks away. The Pro Am is an opportunity for the club to showcase itself to around 50 professionals from all over the country. We will be doing our utmost to ensure that the course is in peak condition. You can do your part by making an extra effort to repair pitch-marks (your own and others), replace divots, rake bunkers and pick up litter on the course.

Find the Joker

Last week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw was Anne O’Grady, who drew the 6 of clubs from envelope no. 14.  Anne wins €30 and the jackpot now stands at a healthy €1,836.  Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.  Thank you to all who support this fundraiser.
