Pro Am

The New Ross Golf Club Pro Am is now just over three weeks away (it takes place on Friday May 16th).  There are still a small number of team and individual places available.  A team of three, including meal with your professional partner afterwards, costs €300.  Individual entries cost €100.  If you would like to enter, please contact James Roche or Paul Morris in the pro shop on 051 421433.

Well done to both the JB Carr & Duggan Cup teams who had victories over Enniscorthy during the week.  In the JB Carr President Jim Meggs and Patsy Farrell led the charge with a 5&4 victory.  Sean Murphy & Robert O’Dwyer won 4&3 and Dan Quigley & Johnny Hosey secured the tie with a win on the 18th.  Willie Whitty & Denis Kirwan and Sean Furlong & Jamsie Wallace were both ahead in their matches when they were called in.  They now face Wexford in the county final.

In the Duggan Cup, Bob Doyle & Harry Doran and Val Molloy & Tommy Liston completed good home wins, whilst Jim Larkin & Brian Teague came unstuck at home.  However, Sean Murphy & Eamon Dungan won a crucial match in Enniscorthy to clinch the tie.  Pat Whelan & Joe O’Farrell were also looking good when called in.  Enniscorthy and New Ross square up again in the Provincial Towns next Saturday and in the Leinster Fourball Trophy next Sunday – we wish both teams the very best of luck.

Course Upkeep

As noted above, the New Ross Golf Club Pro Am is just over three weeks away.  The Pro Am is an opportunity for the club to showcase itself to around 50 professionals from all over the country.  We will be doing our utmost to ensure that the course is in peak condition.  You can do your part by making an extra effort to repair pitch-marks (your own and others), replace divots, rake bunkers and pick up litter on the course.
