Pro Am

It’s just over a month to the much talked about New Ross Golf Club Pro Am, which takes place on Friday May 16th.  Entries have been excellent so far, but there are still a number of team and individual places available.  A team of three, including meal with your professional partner afterwards, costs €300.  Individual entries cost €100.  If you would like to enter, please contact James Roche or Paul Morris in the pro shop on 051 421433.

There is another busy week ahead for our teams with Enniscorthy the opponents in both the JB Carr and Duggan Cup.  The JB Carr takes place in New Ross on Tuesday 15th at 11am, with all five matches taking place in New Ross.  The Duggan Cup team have three matches at home and two in Enniscorthy.  The match takes place at 3pm on Saturday 19th.  We wish both teams the very best of luck.

The Irish Mixed team was out of luck against Borris last Friday.  It was a tough draw, with only two matches at home, and the home advantage was further diminished as Ger Ronan, who was on the New Ross team last year, turned out for his new club Borris!  Ger and his partner played great golf in their win against Junior Cashin and Dympna Molloy.  Joey Furness & Maria Burford had a great win in the other match in New Ross.  In Borris, Mark O’Mahony & Eleanor Roche lost to some excellent golf from the home side,  Eamon Dungan & Margaret Furlong lost by the slimmest of margins on the 18th and  Jim Byrne and Ger Mackey, who staged a remarkable comeback,  were called in from the 19th.  Well done to all the team and we wish Borris the very best of luck in the subsequent rounds.

Find the Joker

Last week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw was Pat Whelan.  Pat drew the 5 of Diamonds from envelope no. 53.  Pat wins €30 and the jackpot is €1,710.  Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.  Thank you to all who support this fundraiser.
