The closing date for entries for the Men’s Foursomes Matchplay has been extended to Tuesday April 8th. If you want to enter please put your names, entry fee (€15 per pair) and contact number on an envelope and put it in the Men’s Competitions Box in the bar.
We are still waiting on our Handicap Software provider to resolve a glitch in relation to the print outs of handicaps for the notice board in the Men’s Locker-room. The handicap lists on the Notice Boards are out of date. You can check your current handicap on the computers in the bar or pro shop and online at:
25 of the wooden lockers in the Men’s Locker Room are being made available to members. The cost to rent the locker for one year is €30. If you are interested in renting out a locker for the year please put €30 euro into one of the small brown envelopes with your name, contact number and the word “Locker” on it, and place it in the Men’s competition box. The closing date for applications has been extended to Friday 11th April. Lockers will be allocated on a first come first served basis, but if there are more than 25 applications before the closing date a draw will take place to decide the allocation.
A reminder to members, as the season gets into full swing, that if you are playing golf in a competition away from New Ross, whether in a society or otherwise, that you have a duty to report your away scores to the handicap secretary. Here’s the requirement as detailed in the CONGU Handicap Manual (Section 8.12):
In Ireland, players and clubs must report to Home Clubs:
(a) All Qualifying Scores together with the relevant Competition Scratch Score.
(b) All Non-Qualifying Scores from Team and Society Golf played over a course for which the Union has allotted a Standard Scratch Score together with notification of the relevant SSS.
All golfers should make themselves familiar with Section 8, “Responsibilities of the Player”
It’s now less than 6 weeks to the inaugural New Ross Golf Club Pro Am, which takes place on Friday May 16th. There are still a number of places available. If you would like to take part, please contact James or Paul in the Pro Shop as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The organisers are also seeking volunteers to work as starters and marshals on the day. Please contact James or Paul if you are willing to volunteer.
