New Ross Golf Pro-Am – Friday 16th May 2014

Congratulations to Tom Fenlon, Sean Murphy & Paul Cashin who have won their places in the first ever New Ross Golf Club Pro Am.  There will be two further Pro Am qualifying competitions in the coming weeks, which present a great opportunity for members to win their place in what will be a very exciting and prestigious event.

If you would like to enter (as an individual or team) please contact James or Paul in the Pro Shop.  The cost of entry is €100 which includes a round of golf and a four course dinner with a PGA professional.  The prizes for amateurs are sure to be generous and will be provided by Culcita Ltd., the event sponsor.  There are already around 10 teams confirmed, so the best advice is to book early to guarantee your place.

The club will also be seeking volunteers to work as starters, marshals on the blind tee shots and as photographers.  If you are able to volunteer your services on the day for 2-3 hours, please let James or Paul know in the Pro Shop.

Damage to the greens

On frosty mornings recently, damage has been caused to the greens by ice build up on golf shoes causing severe indentations on the greens.  The damage caused takes a long time to repair itself.  Members are kindly asked on frosty mornings, to ensure that they bang their shoes to remove this built up ice before walking on to the greens.  The only alternative in these conditions if the damage continues will be for the course to be closed for the day.

Teams

The Men’s section is hoping to give our teams a significant push forward this year.  Team managers have been appointed for all the teams and will be meeting in the next week.  There will be plenty more information to follow, but in the meantime you can find out more about some of the teams on the website:

Find the Joker

The next find the joker draw will take place next Sunday.  The jackpot stands at a lucrative €1,113.  Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.
