Club Cup Auction
A “Calcutta Auction” is being planned to coincide with this year’s Club Cup which takes place over two weekends, August 10th & 17th. In brief, the auction works as follows. Each player entered on the timesheet will be put up for auction. Any member can bid for a player, and you can bid on yourself. After the auction is completed every player will also have the option to buy a 50% stake in themselves for a set amount. All stakes received will go into the prize pot. The owners of prize winners will receive a set percentage of the pot. There will be further information about the Auction in the coming weeks – in the meantime keep a close eye on the form of your playing partners!
We are officially in a drought now and the golf course is playing a lot differently as a result. The greens are in exceptional condition given the weather and it is up to us ensure we do all we can to keep the greens and the rest of the course in the great shape it’s in – please repair pitch marks, replace divots and rake the bunkers and challenge your fellow golfers to do the same. If you see litter on the course, please pick it up and bin it.
Find the Joker
Last week’s winner of the Find the Joker draw was Bill Hurley who turned card 27 revealing the ten of clubs. Bill wins €30 and the jackpot moves on to €536 next week. Seamus Bradley received his jackpot cheque of €4,215 in the clubhouse last Tuesday. Entries cost €2 and are taken in the bar.
